Unboxing Art of War Studios Tokens for Malifaux

After deciding to start playing Malifaux I also decided to pick up some tokens to use playing the game.

Malifaux use a lot of effects that need to be kept track of in the game and their are markers than need to be placed on the board.  You can use spare bases or poker chips for markers and keep track of effects with paper or on your phone, but I decided to pick up some markers to use in game.

I used Art of War Studios to get the tokens.  You can find lots of wargaming tokens on their site and all for a decent price.  They had stuff for Guildball, X-Wing, Infinity, Frostgrave and more.  I picked up two of their Malifaux Core Token sets, one in generic the other faction themed for Resurrectionists since that is the faction I had decided to play.

Each core set came with:
2 50mm Blast markers
6 30mm Scheme markers
6 30mm Scrap markers
6 30mm Corpse markers
7 15mm Soulstone tokens
10 15mm Burning tokens
10 15mm Poison tokens
10 Activated tokens
5  15mm Defensive tokens
5 15mm Focus tokens
5 15mm Fast tokens
5 15mm Slow tokens
5 Positive Twist tokens
5 Negative Twist tokens
3 15mm Paralyse tokens
3 15mm Reactivate tokens
2 15mm Buried tokens

The tokens came in a large ziplock bag, each core set came in a separate bag.

Right is before paper was removed
The tokens all had a protection film on the back and paper on the front.  It did take me a while to take it all off, especially since I was trying to do two sets at once.  The film on the back wasn't as much of an issue but getting the paper off was like getting paper of a sticker off something.  It did come off cleanly and didn't leave a glue feel after which was good.  I did start washing them off once I had the paper off, but stopped since they didn't need it.So I'm going to show you a few of the tokens I got so you can see what they all look like.  The generic set were in black and the Resurrectionists set were in green.  The poison, burning and Soulstone tokens were the same in both sets and the Resurrectionists scheme markers had the faction logo on it.

Defensive and Focused Tokens

The tokens are really nice.  They have a good feel to them and they are thick enough they are easy to pick up and move if you need to.  The ones that need to be a set size for the game because they go on the board are the right size for Malifaux.  The ones that are to keep track of game effects are small enough they could sit on the bases of most models or on the table next to them without causing confusion.

Art of War do plenty of tokens and as far as I can see do them for anything you would need in Malifaux.  These are just the core sets but there are add-ons you can get for anything else you might need like Brilliance Tokens, Chi Tokens and Flame Wall Markers.  They also do all the tokens as generic or faction themed for each faction in the game so you can get ones to differentiate your tokens from your opponents.

Art of War Studios are definitely somewhere I will using again for Wargaming tokens and markers.
